Project Overview
Objective:
To revive traditional weaving and handicrafts in erosion-prone island villages through training, design development, and sustainable market access.
Overview:
SEED launched this project to revive dying traditional crafts and provide alternative livelihoods for women facing erosion-driven displacement. With a focus on locally available resources, women were trained in weaving and design development. Community production centers were established to ensure scalability, and exhibitions helped artisans access CSR channels and niche markets. The project builds income, dignity, and cultural pride.
Impact:
Skilled women in handloom techniques using locally available materials and designs.
Promoted cultural heritage while creating dignified self-employment for marginalized communities.
Developed community-run production units for continuous livelihood support.
Enhanced household income and community pride through CSR-linked exhibitions and partnerships.
