With an aim to mainstream the otherwise isolated Lodha people of Rudrangar GP in Sagar Island (Sundarban, West Bengal), SEED started a ‘Non-formal Education Centre’ in 2011. The school did not have good infrastructure facilities but there was no dearth in dedication of the teachers to educate the Lodha kids. Initially, there were very few students who were also given healthy meal daily. Now, kids of other communities have also started coming to this school so the organisation planned constructing a proper school building with better infrastructure facilities for these poor kids. With the support from local Gram Panchayat and funding by TSA Solutions, the new school building is now ready to be used. The kids will now be able to sit on benches; will have proper toilets, safe drinking water and table chairs for the teachers. With better healthy environment, the little students will also get better development.
